It's been so hard not to chime in on the various happenings of the past week or so. There's been so much to choose from in the news that I just didn't know what to write about. Well, here are a few things that are worth knowing about that make for good convo no matter where you are:
Paris Hilton said jail made here grateful... (I don't buy it)
Two-thousand pounds of weed gone in smoke...(420 will never be the same)
Free Gernalow Wilson (Georgia's racist ways of injustice still strong)
Bloomberg's independence 2008 (Not a surprise)
Charleston's fallen firefighters
Male breast reductions... (wow!)
Tell me what you think.

I want to comment about Mr. Wilson's case. He definitely does not deserve to be behind bars. It's susch a shame that we play into the gender stereotype when it's convenient, so much so that we must make laws for our "cause". In my opinion, unless this girl was mentally retarded she should be serving time as well. All the advocates for this law are doing is perpetuating the stereotype that women are to silly and stupid to make the decision to have sex or not, that we could not possibly initiate or agree to a sexual experience. We would have to be taken advantage of. This young lady was at an age where she could make that decision. Now, her influence to make that decision may be shadowed by her environment, but she is not studpid. She knew exactly what she wanted to do. While I know the intentions of the law, it would prove to be more effective if there was at least a 5 year age difference between the two.
